How does your fabric garden grow?
Flowers made from fabric are very popular right now. They are used for clothing, hair embellishments, magnets and pins. There are many styles and methods to choose from. Here is a small how to for Folded Flowers.

Step 1: Cut some squares from your chosen fabric. The squares need not be perfect but you will need five of the same size for one flower
Step 2: Now fold the fabric point to point to make a triangle.
Step 3: Fold the triangle again to form another triangle. Press lightly to hold it in place or more firmly if you want crisp edges.
Step 4: Double thread your needle and tie it with a knot. Leave a small tail and sew gathering stitches along the longest edge.

Step 5: Pull up the stitches and slip the needle through the end of the thread. Make a few stitches to hold the petal closed. Your first petal is complete. Repeat steps 2-5 for remaining four petals.

Step 6: With a stronger thread stitch through the bottom of each petal.

Step 7: Once all five petals are on the thread, close the loop as in step 5.
Then stitch through the first petal again.

Step 8: I added two buttons in the center.
Once your flower is complete you can add a wire stem, pin back, magnet, hair clip or attach it to a headband. Another idea is to make an additional top layer and attach it slightly skewed. The second layer can be the same or different fabric.
